Articulation Agreements
What Is an Articulation Agreement?
An articulation agreement is a formal arrangement between education institutions that creates a recognised pathway for students who have successfully completed an agreed programme or qualification to progress to further study at a partner institution.
For international partnerships, this can enable students who have completed part of their studies at an overseas university or college to progress to a UK university with advanced standing or recognised credit, where appropriate. Depending on the programme and the academic mapping agreed between the institutions, students may be able to enter a later stage of a degree rather than beginning again from Year 1.
For students, articulation agreements can provide a clearer, more efficient and potentially more cost-effective route to an internationally recognised qualification. For universities and colleges, they can create structured progression pathways for suitably qualified international students whose previous study has been assessed against the requirements of the receiving programme.
